Our residents at St. Agnes Medical Center Family Medicine Residency are committed not only to clinical excellence but also to teaching, mentorship, and innovation. As part of our partnership with CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, residents serve as mentors and teachers to medical students, fostering a collaborative learning environment and cultivating the next generation of physicians.
We embrace modern tools such as AI-assisted platforms (e.g., OpenEvidence) as part of clinical practice to improve patient outcomes, ensure evidence-based care, and integrate evolving technologies into daily workflows.
Residents also gain exposure to health system–based practices, including active engagement with hospital committees, providing valuable perspectives on quality, safety, and patient-centered care.
We prepare all residents to teach themselves and others, cultivating a foundation for life-long learning that extends well beyond residency. Our program emphasizes:
Encouraging Self-Directed Learning
Teaching colleagues and medical students
Quality Improvement (QI) research and scholarly activity
Active participation in discussions and didactics
Case-Based Presentations
Providing routine written and verbal constructive feedback
Residents benefit from comprehensive online learning access, including:
