Medical Student Rotation

We extend a warm invitation to fourth-year medical students hailing from accredited LCME allopathic and COCA osteopathic medical schools to partake in a Sub-Internship (Sub-I) experience within our Family Medicine Inpatient Service. During this rotation, medical students are afforded the opportunity to immerse themselves in our collaborative, fun, and engaging resident work environment.

Our diverse patient cases encompass a broad spectrum of medical conditions, ranging from common and fundamental pathologies to rarer and more intricate presentations. Within this context, medical students are provided with the unique chance to assume responsibility for managing their own patients, while receiving valuable guidance and supervision from both the resident team and our experienced teaching faculty.

The efficacy of our inpatient operations is bolstered by a dedicated team of subspecialists, adept social and case managers, and strong nursing staff. Medical students will witness the seamless integration of these support services into the patient care continuum, from admission to discharge. Notably, our Family Medicine inpatient service is exclusively staffed by Family Physicians who are dedicated hospitalist. This specialization ensures that residents and medical students encounter a focused, up-to-date, and enriching inpatient rotation experience.

A rotation with our program not only acquaints medical students with our residency offerings but also provides a window into the captivating attributes of the Fresno/Clovis region. The area boasts affordable housing options compared to larger urban centers, proximity to natural wonders like Yosemite and King Canyon National Parks for outdoor enthusiasts, and an absence of heavy traffic congestion. As the agricultural capital of the world, our locale enjoys the bounty of year-round fresh fruits and produce.

Our MS-IV rotations span a duration of four weeks and are available year-round based on availability. Those interesting in a rotation can submit their applications via the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) platform.
